This half-day Mental Health First Aid Level 1 course equips learners with the knowledge to identify suspected mental health conditions and the skills to initiate a conversation, providing them with the tools to signpost the person towards professional help.

Mental Health First Aid is exactly what it suggests, a first-aid approach to mental health. It follows a training programme that teaches participants how to notice and support an individual who may be experiencing a mental health concern and provide help – often through connecting them with a route to help and support.
A minimum of 4 hours spread over one day.

A maximum of 12 students can attend the course and must be a minimum of 14 years of age.
A range of methods are used, including practical and questioning (open and multiple-choice).
A Mental Health First Aid Certificate will be issued to all learners, subject to successful completion of the assessment. There is no expiry of the qualification but annual refresher training is recommended.
