Asbestos Awareness Training – It is a legal requirement for anyone who might come in contact with asbestos-containing materials during their work or supervising activities to have asbestos awareness training. This training gives a good understanding of asbestos in buildings and can be a good starting point for more detailed courses.
Asbestos-related diseases kill more people than any other single work-related cause. All types of asbestos can be dangerous if disturbed.
The danger arises when asbestos fibres become airborne. They form a very fine dust. Breathing asbestos dust can cause serious damage to the lungs and cause cancer.

Asbestos annually kills approximately 4,000 people, basically it is a fibrous material widely used in the building industry since the 1950’s. The material can be found in pipe lagging, ceilings, roofing. Asbestos containing materials was not banned until 1999.
consequently this means any building built or refurbished before the year 2000 could contain asbestos.
All workers who are liable to disturb asbestos during their normal work should be competent to recognise asbestos containing materials and know what to do if they come across them.
This asbestos awareness training is a half day course (4 Hours).
Current legislation places a responsibility on employers to provide adequate training to make employees aware of the risks and potential hazards.

Our Asbestos awareness training course also builds awareness and develop knowledge amongst site based employees, educating to the hazards and risks posed by asbestos containing materials (ACM’s) within their everyday working environment. The course will cover the following issues:
The course is subject to ongoing assessment throughout the course. On completion of the training delegates will undertake a short written assessment to determine the knowledge, understanding and skills they have obtained from the training. A certificate of achievement is awarded to each learner attaining the required standard.

Staff should not be involved in working with asbestos if they are not licensed to remove this from site.
instruction and training for asbestos awareness will give workers and supervisors the information they need to avoid work that may disturb asbestos during any normal work task. It will not prepare workers, or self-employed contractors, to carry out work with asbestos-containing materials.
